How do I run DevTools in a new tab?

How do I run DevTools in a new tab? I think there could be some security issues with such use. Though it should be certainly possible.

Do you mean running it in a tab specifically, or are you simply not familiar with the undocked mode where it shows up in a standalone window?

There used to be an "Open as tab" window level context menu option, but it was removed a long time ago.

Perhaps a simple extension can do this (using chrome.tabs.update and changing the type). I am not sure Developer Tools windows are exposed to extensions, though. And maybe popups cannot be converted...
