Hello,

how can I copy all group settings (except group name and group e-mail)
from one group to another group?

Is this possible with GAM?

Thanks,
Micha

Micha,

How many groups? One or many?

Hi Ross:

Micha never responded, so on the off-chance someone else is looking for a solution (as I was) . . . .

I have 16 student groups whose settings I wanted to copy from another group, essentially stripping students of all permissions except "view topics".

As it turns out, the "copyfrom" option when creating new groups also works with the "update group" command, so with a simple csv file listing the student groups the command was:

gam csv student_groups.csv gam select studentdomain.com update group ~group copyfrom group_with_de...@studentdomain.com

Dear Ross and Unhappy Buckaroo,

I have the same problem. I want to create a new group based on a template group. I would like to set name, owner and members customized for the new group. Is it possible to achive it with one command?

Thanks in advance for your support.

Kind regards

Dear Ross,

Can we update multiple group setting at once for a list of group?
objective: I just want to copy the group access settings, not all settings.

Yes, you can update as many attributes as you like.
. gam update group gr...@domain.com attribute1 value1 attribute2 value2 ...
