Google AJAX APIs: Dynamic News Feed Control

Hello everyone,

I did RnD on dynamic news feed controls. I did it successfully for website updates but I want to add images along with description. How I can do this for Dynamic News Feed Control?

Help me please.

Well, once you've downloaded your own copy of the Dynamic Feed Control code and pointed your page to your own version rather than Google's, there are three basic steps to do this:

1. Locate the code which initiates the feeds and change the result format to MIXED (you're looking for line 169 in the original code).

2. Locate the code which sets up the individual entries' HTML elements. You'll need to replace line 401 (in the original code) with your own code to build the main HTML node and assign it to the entry's .html property.

3. Part of your custom code needs to be able to navigate and parse the entry's xmlNode property for the URL of the image you want to display. This is generally easier said than done because there is no standard way to include image information in a feed. Therefore, some will include it in a custom element, others will include an img tag in the description or content code, etc. This makes this step the most challenging of the three, especially if you have multiple feeds to display, each with their own way of including the image information.

All that said, it's really impossible to offer more specific advice and/or code examples without knowing more details about the feed(s) you want to display and how you want to display them.
