I have the above pamphlet.. It's in Portuguese which I cannot read nor understand.
I have mentioned it here because of the fierce debate over the CM's remark that Portuguese culture must be wiped out of Goa.

The post-1961 or expat Goan generation has made little or no efforts to pick up even a smattering of more than one of the five languages/scripts which have dominated the Goa discourse in recent times. Konkani (Roman/Devanagari), Portuguese, Marathi, English. And that is our loss. FN

Then it should not have caused the recent rant from the Chief Minister wishing to “erase Portuguese culture and influence.”

Little desire to learn the Portuguese language, disappearance of Portuguese virtues like honesty, respect for law and order, the overwhelming greed for money and the lack of sanctity of family relationships now prevalent in Goa have done Sawant’s job for him.

I was born and educated in Bombay, and, with the exception of my dad's cousin, nobody spoke Portuguese. If I had lived in Goa, maybe I would have learnt. I tried to learn in Toronto and bought Lingaphone cassettes. I tried but, as someone told me, that I need someone to speak on a daily basis. I have Portuguese-English dictionary.
Now it's too late. Even in Goa, small a small group speak the language. I know that Goa University has a course in Portuguese.

A real pity, all that… (="Uma verdadeira pena, tudo isso.")

If you can scan the whole thing, I'd try to make time to translate it.

I found "A Lusitanização de Goa" online and I'll take a stab at translating it. Whenever I'm done, I'll share the results here.

If I remember well, Portuguese is more commonly in use in Daman (Damao) than in Goa, and people confirmed this in both places. I went to visit the main church in the old town of Daman, and mass was still (also) celebrated in Portuguese - by a Brazilian priest. That was in the early 00s. Cheers, p+2D!

Thanks for your offer, Smith. I will try and scan it. I had scanned few pages, and I need to scan by drive.
