Dear Colleagues,

I have been told anecdotally that the logbook image uploading problem is is still being encountered. It will not be fixed without data. Please remember to send me the following information when the problem is encountered.

Best,
Mark

1) Lognumbers of pertinent entries, if possible prior to attempting to edit the entry and upload the missing images.
2) Data on how the log entry form was approached:
Was the user already logged in, or did he/she begin as anonymous user and click the "add entry button", get intercepted by the login form and then proceed to form.
3) Verified that there was a thumbnail for each uploaded file
4) Did the user preview the entry before submitting it? If so, were the attachments present in the preview?
5) Were there any error messages?

It would also be helpful to volunteer one's device type, browser, network connection (wired/wireless & on-site/off-site), in case one of those turns out to be important.  I have seen this particular bug many times using chrome on a macbook with off-site wifi.  I cannot remember if I saw it in the counting house using the gluons.

Naomi.

Hi Mark,

This afternoon I lost two files that I had uploaded on the first try. I
did take two screen shots that show part of the process. The following
happened:

1. I created a new log entry.
- Added three files (shown on second submission)
- Edited the text to go with it.
- Went to the tab to add a second reference. The window did not have a
second (empty) location to enter a reference number and did not allow me
to add a new line
- I saved the entry.
- Only the first file was loaded and, of course, a single reference.
- Took a screen shot of the "first submission"

2. I edited the entry
- Added the second and third files
- Went to the tab to add a second reference. It indicated the first
reference and had a blank entry for a second. I added the second reference.
- Saved the log entry.
- Took a screen shot of the "second submission"

Note that only one email was sent; perhaps there was very little time
between the two submissions.

I was asked to also share my
machine - laptop MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina (eltonsmac2)
browser - Safari Version 13.1.1 (15609.2.9.1.2)
connection info - (home) wireless to my modem cox.net

Hope this helps. Cheers, Elton

Hi Mark,

Here is another example of an upload problem with the log book. The
screen shots may actually help give some hints as to the problem.

Sequence of events:
- Uploaded two (pdf) files
- Checked preview before typing text. Two entries (trimmed and full
versions), don't know if that is correct diagnostic or a problem.
-> Screenshot #2 (actually taken by going back in my browser after
saving the log entry.
- Added text to log book
- Saved log entry
-> Screenshot #1 (missing second file)
- Edited log for a second time
-> Screenshot #3 (both files present)

I was asked to also share my
machine - laptop MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina (eltonsmac2)
browser - Safari Version 13.1.1 (15609.2.9.1.2)
connection info - (home) wireless to my modem cox.net

At the software meeting today, Naomi reported a new feature for multiple image uploads that Theo rolled out. It is working for her. Have others tried it?
