Can we install multiple versions of git on windows pc in order to use tools that are compatible with various versions of git?

Thank you

Hi Jaswanth,

you can install multiple Git for Windows versions via the PortableGit
installer. This will not integrate into the Start Menu, but you will have
to either adjust your `PATH` to add the `cmd` folder of the version you
want to use, or you need to start the `git-bash.exe` in the corresponding
installation directory.

It is not possible to install multiple versions of Git for Windows
side-by-side via the official installer.

However, I am confused as to what tools might be compatible only with
older Git versions, and won't allow you to simply upgrade to the latest
(and safest) version. Care to elaborate?

Ciao,
Johannes
