Subject: Gentle Reminder for Meranti - PGDE Pri grp 8

Please be reminded that your group’s scheduled Meranti Project will kick off on Saturday & Sunday, 1-2 June 2013. You may proceed to report to NIE5-01-TR506 at 830am. The programme will end at 530pm for both days. Upon completion of the two-day programme, you will be presented with a Certificate of Participation.
Lunch and tea (halal) will be provided, and please bring along the utensils pack that was given out during orientation for lunch and tea. Do inform us by 24 May 2013 if you have any dietary requirements such as vegan. A Meranti notebook will be given to you on Day 1 and you may wish to bring along a pen to take notes during the programme. You are also encouraged to read the articles under Meranti folder from Blackboard for your references.
Group leaders/secretary, please send 2 representatives from your GESL group to collect the Meranti materials from OTE (Blk 2, Level 3 room 02A) on 31 May Friday afternoon between 230pm to 430pm. The representatives are required to store the materials in NIE5-1-TR502 for storage only. You shall report straight to your own designated Meranti venue on Saturday morning. We highly advise you to collect the materials within the stipulated time as the room will only be unlocked during that period. Last but not least, do inform us the names of the student teachers who will come by our office for the collection.
During Meranti, there will be a teacher dialogue session, an informal dialogue session with a senior teacher where he/she will impart some of the challenges and opportunities they have gone through, the highs and lows of their teaching career, and why are they passionate with teaching. Perhaps you might want prepare some questions for him/her beforehand.
Note on absenteeism: If you are absent for any of the two days, you will be required to attend the entire session (2 days) on rescheduled dates. If you are not feeling well, please obtain a valid medical certificate from a doctor and inform us. However, you are reminded that you will still be required to attend the Meranti session on another scheduled date. Attendance is strictly compulsory. Group leaders and/or secretary, please assist to inform your group regarding the Meranti session (in case anyone is missed out) and to ensure that all information has been disseminated.
