classic printer "Currently offline"

I'm running google-chrome-stable-33.0.1750.117-1.x86_64 on Fedora 19.

I have two networked classic printers attached with CUPS to the machine. I can print to both printers.

I can't print to the cloud print printers even from that machine. And, obviously can't print remotely.

Any help appreciated.

Port 5222 should be open. But if that were the problem, wouldn't the rest of the destinations show offline?

The rest of the printers are not connected through your Chrome connector, so they do not share the same online/offline state.

Ports 5222 and 5223 are open:

iptables -n -L | grep 5222
ACCEPT     tcp  --  0.0.0.0/0            0.0.0.0/0            tcp dpts:5222:5223

I've now updated chrome to google-chrome-stable-33.0.1750.146-1.x86_64. No joy. The classic printers are still "Currently offline".

Looking at the details of the classic printers, both show "last updated" 3 days ago, at the same date and time they were registered. Also the "Details" for each classic printer reflect the state of the machine when it was registered. FWIW, the printers are active and working at the time of registration.

The Details for my moto X (XT1060) show it was updated this morning. Would updating help?

Is there a way to "force" an update?

Can you please find ID of a printer with issue in management page?
Do you have "Automatically register new printers I connect" checked when you add printers?

Thanks for the quick response.

I have had "Automatically register new printers I connect" checked, but I think I unchecked it. Oddly, I can't bring up the "Add a classic printer" page to find out. The link on https://www.google.com/cloudprint#printers takes me to  https://support.google.com/cloudprint/answer/1686197?rd=1   .

You need to disconnect printers and connect again. I suspect a bug when if  "Automatically register new printers I connect" was unchecked.

Thanks. That worked. 

But now, how do I register just one Classic printer from the server? I actually have 5 printers connected on that server. Now they're all registered and shown on Cloud Print!

This means we have bug in "Automatically register new printers I connect".
So no way to do limited list now. I'll try to fix ASAP.

This may seem simplistic, but I just restarted my MFC-J450DW after over a week of spontaneous "printer offline" and the problem has been resolved.

Assign the printer a static IP address ( Wireless Printer Off-line Problems )

An IP address is an Internet network address that the computer can use to communicate with the printer. Enter a static IP address to make sure that the wireless connection remains stable. Follow these steps to assign the printer a static IP address.

o    Get the printer IP address.

o    Press the Wireless button on the printer control panel to view the network settings.

o    Access the Network menu on the printer control panel.

o    Print a Network Configuration Page or Wireless Test Report page.

o    Once you have the printer’s IP address, open a new web browser window or tab.

o    Type the IP address in your web browser’s address bar, and then press Enter.

Make sure that you type the IP address into the browser’s address box. If you type it into a tool bar search box, the EWS will not open.

The Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer opens and confirms that the printer is on the same network as the computer
