Hello,

I've just installed Google Cloud Print Service (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/cloudprintservice) to a Windows 8.1 PC (on which Chrome is installed) but I am unable to add printers.

Here's what I did:
 - I ran the Cloud Print Service and logged in using valid Windows credentials. The credentials are for a different user (on the same machine) with admin rights. I did that because my main user has no password, and GCP didn't accept that;
 - I clicked on the "Register" button, and an instance of Chrome popped, asking me to log into my Google Account;
 - I logged in and was show a list of available printers. I chose one to add, then pressed "Add Printer(s)";
 - A confirmation page was shown, then the Chrome window was automatically closed.

In the GCP program, the Service state shows "Running", and all the input fields are grayed out. There are three buttons at the bottom, respectively: "Stop", "Unregister" and "Close".

When I go to the printers management page (https://www.google.com/cloudprint), using the same account I used to add the printers, the printer I added isn't there. All I can see is my Android phone and the "Save to Google Drive" option. The printer isn't available when printing from my phone either.

Any idea what could be causing this?

I ended up just uninstalling the Print Service and going directly through Chrome (chrome://devices/, Add Printers). The printer is now available from all my devices. You don't need to keep Chrome open (or even allow Chrome Extensions to run in the background). The system automatically keeps an "invisible" instance of Chrome running, waiting for print jobs, which I guess is pretty much what the Print Service did anyway.

Unfortunately we have issues in service mode with Win 8.1 (maybe even Win8, but i can't reproduce), Win 2012. Fix in progress.

This is happening to me on Windows 7 x86 machine. Curiously enough, all of the sudden I require a username and password to access file shares as well, I think the two may be related.
