Chair's Board report for the 4th quarter of 2024

Chair's Board report for the 3rd quarter of 2024:
    There was no new discussion of long-range goals for the GCD.

    There were no significant new contacts regarding commercial use of our data this quarter.

    The Board elections were held and the following members were elected to a two-year term:
        Don Milne
        Matthew Gore
        Steven Rowe
        Alexandros Diamantidis

    The Board officer elections were held and the following officers were elected:
        Don Milne - Chair
        Steven Rowe - Secretary
        Alexandros Diamantidis - Treasurer

    I have recently reviewed our ongoing efforts for our main project of cataloging comics data and found that we have about 338 indexers who had changes approved during the quarter.  This is down slightly from the previous quarter.

    I have also received the following reports and am forwarding them to the Board.

Policy Coordinators' report:
    No report received.

Reservations Coordinators' report:
    The Coordinators acted upon at least six requests to increase members reservation limits this quarter.

PR Committee / Social Media Coordinator's report:
    The Committee reports that it has had no discussions or done anything in several years.  It has no plans for any actions or activities.

Feature Committee:
    The committee has continued discussions, though with few members participating.  The chair anticipates submitting a final report at the end of their allotted time.

Documentation Coordinators' report:
    The Documentation Coordinators have continued to update the wiki for Policy Votes, though there is currently a small backlog of changes for Policy Votes.  We have also made minor changes for clarity and link improvements.

Mailing List Administrators' report:
    No members were placed on moderation or given warnings this quarter.

Ad Revenue Coordinators report:
    Revenue for the quarter from GG Software Advertising (NitroPay) ceased during October, 2024.  Therefore, we no longer are receiving any advertising revenue.

Treasurer's report:
        Treasurer Scott Novick continued to be unable to perform the Treasurer's duties in recent months.  Therefore, no report was received.  However, I have once again assumed the duties of Treasurer and have the following to report as of December 31 (all figures given in USD):
    Fund Balance = $39,044.78
            Chase Bank account = $34,107.95
            PayPal account = $4936.83
    Income:
            NitroPay ads = $148.37
            PayPal donations = $1005.57
    Expenses:
            Hetzner server costs = $391.03
            Cloudfare costs = $309.18
            iPostal mail costs = $1.99
            PayPal fees = $63.36
            Chase currency conversion fees = $11.71
            Chase Bank fees = $6.00
            Rehmann accounting fees = $1200.00
            Postage = $29.20

Secretary's report:  
        No report received.

Editors' group report:

        No changes in the number of Editors during the last quarter.

eBay data download facility report:
        We are awaiting payment of the donation mentioned in the contract with eBay to supply GCD data in a specialized format for their use.  I have finally made contact with someone in the contracts division at eBay and expect to hear from him again this week.

Tech and SysAdmin Coordinators:
        Jochen has recently been making several updates to the editing screen and to create new reports available on other screens.

Sorry for the lack of an official Secretary response, but as I
mentioned to Don, I had been in the hospital for 4 days. and while I
thought I could
do this in a week, various other personal items kept coming up.

Besides the items that the chair mentioned, the Board also paid the
invoice for the 2023 tax preparation. The Chair also mentioned at
that time,
that he might be able to do the 2024 tax work.

    Thanks for the additions, Steven.  I thought you would reply with
anything I missed and I could save you a more formal report.

    I am looking at whether I can complete our 2024 tax filing.  The
possible difficulty I have yet to asses is whether the fact that we
still had "business" income from the website ads in 2024 is something I
can deal with or not.
