Psionics,

I am proud of the way our team performed yesterday. Looking back, I think we made good decisions based on credible information and performed with the sort of single-minded determination under pressure I have always witnessed with this team. I have been honored to be your coach.

Unfortunately, we must now begin considering options for the summer and begin preliminary planning for next year. Kira is currently expecting a move to FRC next year, and I will need to discuss my status with other coaches and the board, but have made no decision. Some discussion has been stirring about UIL competition this summer. If enough interest exists, perhaps we can keep Psimone intact and its crew meeting occasionally for a few more months.

I know you are all as disappointed as myself with the results of the Alamo tournament and the fact that we are not advancing. I suggest that we meet Monday to discuss our feelings about the season and thoughts about moving forward. Please let me know what you think.

I know that this has been an exhausting week for everyone, but I could not be more proud of this group of wonderful girls. There is no place I would have rather been this past weekend. Psimone and its crew did their best against the best teams in the region.

Coach Doug.

Thank you Doug and Hem for guiding the team and seeing them through the regionals. What they learned from you was invaluable.

The competition itself taught them many lifeskills and exposed them to the fact that there are so many interdependencies that affect a team which are out of ones control. And learning to navigate through and deal with those situations is something the kids would not get in a classroom setting.

I know it sounds cheesy but what kids at this age learn from losses is more valuable in the long run than an easy win. My sincere thanks again to coach Doug and Hem for their tireless work and dedication to the team.

Regards
Kalpana
P.S. - Urvi has choir on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

Hi Kalpana,

Thanks for all of your kind words. I wish we were advancing, but am very proud of the girls and feel they were easily as good as any of those teams fortunate enough to move on to the next level. They gave everything they had to give.

Linda, Hem, and I have agreed to meet a bit earlier tomorrow, at 6, to allow Urvi to join us for a short while before her Choir. Closure is important, so we hope she will be able to attend.

I will be sending a separate email requesting the entire team to arrive a bit earlier too. I feel certain most will be there.

Thanks for your support throughout the season!

Doug.
