Hi all.

As you may have already noticed next FPBrno meetup will be on Wednesday 2017-02-22.

However, this meetup will be a little different in the approach.
The program is not fixed as of now and we are looking for speakers.
In ideal case, there would be several shorter talks, ranging in topics
and level of detail (as opposed to one long talk), totalling say 1.5 to 2 hours.

In case you would like to volunteer, say so on the mailing list,
or let me know, so we can coordinate. If you have something interesting
to say but have no experience with talks, someone (I offer myself)
will for sure help you with slides, rehearsal or anything that would
make you more comfortable.

Looking forward to the event.

Matej

PS1: We have restored our presence on meetup.com: <https://www.meetup.com/fpbrno/>
PS2: This time venue is going to be sponsored by Kiwi.com.

As I promised Matěj, I will give an overview/introductory/motivation talk. It will be focused mainly on what purely functional programming means, what are its benefits and negatives, what are types, why are the types so different in it and how can one utilize this to create better (whatever that means) software.

The facts said will be supported by real world examples (understand the Ixperta Vision and Obelisk projects).

I don't want to go into much detail I want to keep it simple and focused. The goals are:
  • Make the audience THINK about what are they missing by not having real types,
  • make the audience want to learn (more about) purely functional programming languages such as Haskell.

I assume It won't take longer than 30 minutes.

Marek

I will also talk about negatives of purely functional programming
