Urgent help needed. Yesterday we updated a Siswati dictionary database to FLEX 8.0.5 beta version. Now it fails to open. It gives an "Internal Error" message and then shuts down. Is there a way of fixing this or reverting the data to an older version of FLEX?

Regards

Is the error any more detailed than simply "Internal Error"?  If so, can you provide the rest?  Also, can you clarify this: You open FLEx, then there is this error, then it immediately shuts down (without any interaction by you - the user)?  If it is different, could you provide those details?

I ran into an error which was due to having a slightly older font installed for Charis SIL than what the database/application required.  However, my error was slightly different (possibly), in that the application remained running after I close the error message (which appeared many time - after clicking Close/OK, the error dialog would close and then reopen again ~10-15 times).  If you have different behavior, one of the other people here may also be able to suggest looking into the log file.  I don't know exactly where this is, however.

What happens is that when I open FLEX, a light green box comes up which says there is an internal error. The box has space where I have to type the stages which led to the error. After I have explained thestages which led to the error FLEX is upposed to link my message to emailor note pad but it doesn't. The green box only has a 'close the application button at the bottom.'

 - Are you running on Windows or Linux?

 - In the green dialog box, is there a blue link that says "show details"?  If you click on that, it will tell you more, but that info is really designed for the programmers--it probably won't tell you much.

You said that it doesn't automatically open up an email message when you click on the button to close the application.  Try clicking the other radio button that says something about "I will paste it into a message myself" or something like that (it might mention copying it to the clipboard).  Then after you click to close the application, open up Notepad or some other text editor and do a "paste" for instance, using Ctrl-V), and it should paste in all the info from that dialog, including any steps you wrote, plus the comments in the dialog, and also all of the details (whether you showed them or not).  Please save that document and then email it to FLEx_...@sil.org.  They will be able to help you know what to do next.

If for some reason the info is not copied into your document when you tell it to paste, then the next time you get the green dialog, you can click on "view details" and then select all the debugging info that appears.  After you have selected it, tell it to "copy" (for instance, with Ctrl-C), then open a document and do a "paste".  Then save that document and send it to FLEx_...@sil.org.  That is what FLEx_Errors needs in order to find out what is happening.

Hope some of this helps.

Dear Mr. Otlogetswe,

I just found this post about your siSwati databse. I had the honor to work in Swaziland in Bulembu for some time and I fell in love with the language. I was wondering if it is possible to connect with you about this database and if it is possible for me to use it for learning more of the language. You can contact me here or on the following email address: david...@gmx.de

Thank you so much for your help,
David

PS: Sorry for my bad english in advance, I am not a native speaker.
