Hi all ,
I hope your winter is going well.. It’s been such nice weather that we were able to get the #5 bottom done already thanks to captain Kirktastrophy! He does amazing work.. Anyways , I was lucky enough to be on yesterday’s fleet captains call and attached are the notes ..A few things to take note of are..
We are supposed to host NAs in 2026 (maybe August might be a good time?) and We will host the world championships in 2030 ( i told them we are already working on a rotation matrix) ..There’s also a friendly reminder that we will need at least8 races to determine our World qualification series..
We will have to have a fleet vote this spring to change some of the language allowing us to extend the series into August if need be.. I don’t anticipate this ever happening but we should have the safety guard option in the future just in case ..Last year we had 11 races in the same 4 Saturdays that we are attempting for this year.. Finally, Greg of course scheduled this years NAs for July 7,8,9..Which conflicts with our July series ..I don’t anticipate anyone wanting to actually go to marblehead instead of racing at home on Fishers as any day at Fishers is way more competitive than anywhere else …But , if anyone is interested please let me know soon as GMU wants teams to accept berths asap.. Anyways, Please have a look below…Looking forward to a May fleet call!!
Best,
Jonathan

Great report, Jonathan.

Love the idea of an "Under 35" regatta hosted at Fishers in 2024. It might give some young teams something to gun for.

The NAs timing is unfortunate. For any of our less-traveled teams, a regatta like that is a great learning and team-building experience, sailing in another location, changing boats, etc., and it can also serve as a good chance to outperform your own expectations. I think if someone wants to go we should figure out how to help them make it happen.
