Database multi-region hosting

Hey,
I would love to use the Firebase real-time database, but sadly EU data protection laws keep me from doing so at least in Germany and France. During the Google io somebody told me that multi-region hosting for the database is on the roadmap, so far it is afaik solely hosted in the US central region. Apart from privacy laws I also noticed a significant sync delay in non-US countrys like Israel or Australia due to the large distance.
I would love to know weither progress has been made so far in this area, it probably keeps many Europe based developers from using the awesome features of Firebase.

Hi Stefan,
Since multiple regions will be a pretty huge win for Firebase, I think you can safely assume we won't be releasing them in secret. Keep an eye on the blog and our twitter feeds for announcements--No ballparks or public release dates I can share. Sorry.

Nope, nothing on multi-region. If you're interested in upcoming features, I'd definitely recommend signing up for the Alpha program though, and say in the comments that you're interested in more flexible regions for database: https://firebase.google.com/alpha
