If there's so much activity in the "vacuum", it's surprising there's apparently no evidence of photons interacting with those virtual particles, if they exist. If such interactions were occurring, presumably there would be some blurring of the spectral lines of stars we can observe. AG

They're called "virtual" because they violate conservation of energy. Seem like a death sentence when it comes to reality. AG

There is nothing to violate since energy doesn't exist. "Energy" is just an idea in consciousness. And consciousness can imagine whatever story it wants.

Goodbye and good luck. AG

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!  All the most profound questions in science and philosophy can be answered simply by saying "X doesn't exist".  Socrates, Newton, Einstein, eat your heart out!

@Alan. Why are you sad ? You would have wished for reality to be different than the dream of consciousness ? Why ?

@John. Not necessarily. Because you have consciousness. So even though you throw to the garbage bin of history all the energy, matter, atoms, cells, brains, etc., you still have consciousness. So then go and research consciousness!

What makes you think I'm conscious? Do you have any reason for believing you are not the only conscious being in the universe? If you do have a reason and it's not intelligent actions then I'd love to hear what on earth it could be.

@John. I am the only conscious being given the fact that I am God. But so are you. We are all one and the same God dreaming infinite dreams, knowing all that it can be.

@John. But anyway, if you want to go into details and want to know how do I know that you are also an instantiation of God and I'm not the only one, then the answer is that my own consciousness could not be what it is if there would not be other consciousnesses around to contribute towards cosmic contexts out of which my consciousness is merely one meaning out of many that contribute towards the orchestra of meanings coordinated by the cosmic context. Quantum Foam is falsified for the same reasons Tired Light is falsified. Other than regions of gas and dust, the universe is remarkably transparent. But Quantum Foam has an additional hoop  to jump; it requires photon interaction with particles that violate conservation of energy (aka virtual particles).  And forget about the Casimir Effect. It can be shown to follow classically from Wan der Waals forces. AG
