I have a 1965 valiant convertible 273 and I’m trying to pull the heads without pulling the engine. I have everything off except the lower middle bolt on each head. Seems the exhaust doesn’t want to get out of my way. Does anyone have any suggestions I’m at my wits end and I don’t want to pull engine getting under car to work is to hard getting to old. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks

Loosen all the exhaust bolts to the junction of the exhaust pipes and manifolds.
There might be a bracket on the drivers side from exhaust manifold to the block.
Make SURE all the bolts are out of the exhaust manifolds to the head.

Thanks for the reply I took the bolt off the bracket and can get the exhaust manifold loose from the head but still can’t get a socket on that one bolt. And I can’t get the passenger side off the end threaded studs. I haven’t given up yet last resort will be pull the engine and rebuild sounds like winter project. image0.jpeg

Well I remember having to pry the manifolds off the studs with a bar.
That is why if you can get the manifolds away from the exhaust pipes, you will have all the room you need.
Good Luck
What a Beautiful car!

Another option is to remove or loosen the large motor mount/insulator nuts  from the K-member, lift the engine a bit with a floor jack and a piece of wood at the oil pan, and that will allow you to rock the engine from side to side a bit. That should give you the clearance you need for the socket.
