Dear All,
We will watch a short documentary 'Resources in Education' followed by discussion for ERG meeting on 13th July.
Titile :
Resources in Education
Speaker:
Dr. Padma M. Sarangapani
Professor, Tata Institute of Social Sciences,
Mumbai
Brief Note:
‘Teaching Learning Materials’ are widely
recommended for use yet, there is little critical reflection on why they need
to be used and what specifically is gained by their usage. Resources in
Education is a short documentary film which explores this ideas. It is
based on interviews with educators who have designed and developed resources or
have used them extensively in their practice. Through their experiences
and reflections on resources that they have designed or that they have used or
regard as good, the film presents ideas on many key themes through which an
understanding on resources can be developed. This includes ideas of why
resources are used in education, and the characteristics that make resources
good, particularly from the point of view of their design and how they are
used, how they relate to the subject matter and how they need to be used.
A film made by Natesh Ullal et al based on research by Padma Sarangapani, Disha
Nawani, K. Latha and N. Sumana as a part of the Action Research Study on
Education resource centres supported by the Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust (30
minutes). At the seminar I will be showing the film which is now in its
final stage of production and will invite critical comments on the ideas that
the film seeks to generate for reflection and discussion as well as inputs to
finalising the film.
