Hi,
I'm not unable to recompile entire project, to get Win32 binaries, but this is an amazing application, and I've put EncryptPad in several computer of my customers, that were for long time looking for a similar program.

However, but do not be angry, EncryptPad has an orrible icon.
And when several epd files will be saved on desktop, these are truly ugly to see, and many of my customers ask me how to replace them.

I've attached an iconset made by me.
It's possibile to have this project recompiled with these new icons?

Thanks in advance.
Riccardo

Hello Ricardo,

Thanks for your work on the icons. They look nice. Would it not be easier for you to change the default icons for the .epd extension on Windows? There are numerous manuals in the Internet. I found a couple with a quick google search:

http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/change-default-icon-file-type-windows/
http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/default-programs-editor-change-file-type-icon-windows-7-vista/

Regarding changing the default EncryptPad icon, I agree that the icon is not ideal. However, it's used everywhere on the web site, numerous blog articles about EncryptPad and even in a few paper magazines. It's difficult for me to change the theme and colour of the icon at the moment. However, I would be more than grateful if somebody could improve its quality while retaining the identity of the theme, if you can say so.

In the meantime, I think it should be easy to solve your problem with changing the icon in Windows. Let me know if it works for you.

Cheers,
Evgeny

Dear Evgeny,
I've already changed the file type icon (epd) with this great utility:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/file_types_manager.html

This does the same as your that you mentioned.

And with ResourceHacker I've changed the internal resource of the icon, but the icon compiled into the executable cannot be changed with this tool.

However, putting the shortcut of EncryptPad onto the application bar (w8/w10) and/or in the start menu, the O.S. shows the green icon of your application, and this generate some confusion to the users that asked me to change it.

I had no idea that this icon (or theme) is such large diffused (great job!), and I did not want to cause any harm.

That's all. Thankyou for your answer.
Riccardo
