I was looking for how to install Leabra and make my own code directory and found the current installation instructions either incomplete or misleading. But maybe you weren’t quite ready to have people use cogentcore. Or else I’m not understanding the current state of things properly.

  1. If I go to emergent and look for installation instructions, it points me to the Wiki Install instructions which tell people to install gogi
  2. If I go to leabra it simply tells me to install cogentcore and then assumes I know how to install and run ra25 or other sims under leabra. The same is true for axon.
  3. There are currently no instructions for how to create my own code directory, unless I’m supposed to use the one on the Wiki Install.

Am I missing something or has there just not been time to modify the instructions with everything else that is going on.

Thanks, Steve

There are some installation instructions at the bottom of the simulations page, but you are correct that the emergent, leabra, and axon installation instructions are not fully updated yet. We will do that soon.

I updated the emergent wiki a bit and the README. In general there isn't anything special about running an emergent app relative to any other cogent core app, so hopefully the main cogent docs are sufficient, but I updated the existing install info for the cogent case.

I also updated the CCN sims to include a major update to the toolbar that removes the "app chooser" which saves a lot of space, and also wraps around the netview toolbar so everything is always accessible. These changes make it more functional on smaller displays.

Thanks for doing this.  I deleted one line on the Wiki Install page that referred to v1 and v2, although that might have been a mistake in hindsight, depending on whether someone is going to want to use v1.

Also, on both the Leabra and Axon Readmes it would be useful to put a link to the Wiki Install instructions to make it easy for people to reference the instructions for installing Leabra and Axon and then creating their own code directory.

One general question.  I have several ongoing leabra projects that require go 1.18 or 1.19, and I have not yet updated go.  Has anyone run into any problems when using 1.22?
