Black beekeeper's in Hackney

My daughter is doing a project  with community gardens in Hackney which is reaching out to  the  local black community  and she wants  to showcase people interacting with nature with beekeeping  one theme.

Hi Wendy,

I am a beekeeper in east London but unfortunately I am not black. I know there is a one black beekeeper goes to LBKA meetings but given the Current circumstances hard to pin him down. I suggest that she makes an inquiry from there as well.

Hi Everyone,

Does this group ever meet up at all or have some sort of catch up on a monthly basis etc??? Would be great to get involved in it but more. I know a while back it was very random get together if I remember correctly.

LBKA is the London Beekeeping Association
(http://www.lbka.org.uk/home.html). It's very active and supportive
and I recommend checking it out. There are (Zoom) meetings twice a
month and an excellent Whatsapp group for members. (And I'm not only
saying that because I'm the membership secretary!)

El-beeks currently is just this mailing list. "Just" a group of local
East London beekeepers in. We used to organise meetups, but haven't
met up for several years.

Several beekeepers of colour are known to me and may be able to help your daughter, but I think it would more appropriate that your daughter write directly with a background description of the project. Please ask her to email me at honeyh...@gmail.com.

In the meantime, I will ask the relevant beekeepers if they are willing to be contacted.
