The NG version of JMdict is now being distributed in parallel with the
previous (now legacy) version. At present, the NG version(s) have
"_NG" appended to the filenames. The distribution includes the
"JMdict_e" and "JMdict_b" variants. The full multilingual edition and
the version with example sentences will be added later.

The files can be downloaded from the "ftp" server at:
http://ftp.edrdg.org/pub/Nihongo/ and specifically from
http://ftp.edrdg.org/pub/Nihongo/#dic_fil

The main changes that have been implemented at this stage have been
the major reworking of the structure of cross-references between
entries, and the move of the source-language information (lsrc) to be
entry-wide instead of at the sense level. See
https://www.edrdg.org/jmdemo/web/doc/2026-03-xmlng.html for details
of the changes.

It would be great if people using JMdict in systems and apps could try
out the NG versions and provide feedback on any issues.

Cheers

Jim

I played around with NG today and as far as I can tell, I don't anticipate any issues for integrating it into my apps. Thanks for the hard work putting this together!
