Hi all,
A French user of my app recently pointed out something strange in the French JMdict data, and I wanted to bring it up in case it is indicative of a larger issue.
The entry for 桜(さくら) in French does not actually contain the “cherry blossom” sense. The senses present translate to "(1) decoy; false buyer; friend; (2) paid applauder; (3) horse meat ”. Those seem to correspond to senses 2-4 in English.
I’m guessing this means there is some sort of issue with the mapping from the French data source to the JMdict entries. I’m not sure if this is an issue just with this entry, or a broader issue. Would someone mind helping me look into this?
Thanks,
Chris Vasselli

Very curious. That's basically the 桜 entry as it appeared in Jean-Marc
Desperrier's JF original dictionary file.
I've checked in my Taishukan "Dictionnaire Standard Japonais-Francais"
and on that basis I've added a new first sense: "cerisier; fleurs de
cerisier" and pushed all the other senses down one. I've also updated
the version on WWWJDIC (see
https://www.edrdg.org/cgi-bin/wwwjdic/wwwjdic?HMDJ%A4%B5%A4%AF%A4%E9).
