EAA1469 Membership Meeting and Display Day

Due to support for Wings Over Camarillo and the remodeling of the Axis Air and CAU facilities we use at OXR, we are cancelling the 2 events on August 16, 2025.  (Monthly membership meeting and Historic Aircraft Display Day).

Upcoming events:

Saturday, August 30 - A Career Day is scheduled at OXR by the VC 99s.  The Chapter will be sharing a table with EAA723 to help the youth make decisions about a career in aviation.  If you would like to support the event please Contact Barb Filkins(bfil...@skworks.com).

You mention in passing "monthly membership meeting". Even though you brought it
up as something that's being canceled for August, I might be interested in other
instances of this apparently-periodic meeting. When/where are they? What are
they about?

Hi Peter,

We’ve always had a member’s meeting on the 3rd Saturday of the month (unless pre-empted by other events).  We tried changing to the 3rd Wednesday evening for about a year, but that didn’t have enough support.  Attendance has been very low unfortunately.  We try to have a program at each meeting.  Sometimes it’s a member or guest, but we usually have to resort to a video.  Someone usually brings coffee and donuts, too.  We’ve been meeting at CAU for several years, but right now that’s in flux.  With Matt Johnston starting Axis Air as well as CAU, he’s working to refurbish it all.  I’ll attach a photo of the meeting place he’s given us until he has some of the renovation done.

Good Morning!

 

I keep forgetting to correct the event information below.

 

The request for 1469 participation came from CAU…

 

California Aeronautical University will be hosting an event at our Flight Center in Oxnard for any students that are interested in learning about the aviation industry or becoming a pilot. We will have giveaways, information on how flight training works, our aviation university, important topics like financial aid and more. I have attached the flyer for the event.

 

We would love if you could come host a table at the event and talk to students from the Oxnard and surrounding areas about your organization. There is no charge for you to participate we just want to partner with local aviation organizations to help expose youth to aviation.

 

We will provide our exhibitors with lunch, a table and chairs. You are welcome to sell merch or bring any flyers or information about your organization to hand out.

 

I ask 723 to participate since they are giving scholarships but this is really our show. I will forward the flyer after the Air Show.
