Error ERun #18028

Hello! 

 I would like to know if someone during ERun has ever had the error number 18028.  I created an experiment where several audio files are loaded, in ERun everything proceeds but arriving at some  files (extension .mp3 like all the others) the system crashs down and appears the writing: 

Runtime Error! Unable to find the sound file specified, Line 617, error number: 18028.

 I specify that the audio files are all MP3s that work and are all in the same folder.

In my experience, when E-Prime generates an "Unable to find the sound
file specified" error, it means, well, that E-Prime cannot find the
specified file. Then I have to make sure that E-Prime is really using
the file names & paths that I think it is using, and that my files use
names and are in places that I think they are. E.g., spaces at the
beginning or end of file names can create real problems.

I would start by making a simple E-Prime program that does nothing but
play a List of sound files, set that to run in Sequential order, and go
from there. I would use a Slide to play the sounds, and on that Slide
use a SlideText to display the name of each file played, surrounded by
quotes or some other characters so that I could detect any hidden space
characters, etc.

Dear David 

Thank you very much for your indications. I tried many times your directions but always the same problem appears (you can find in attach the outcome script with the error). I also try to modify the whole experiment and the file extension from .mp3 to .wav...... 

Do you know what "SoundBuffer.Load" means for EPrime ?

SoundBuffer.Load is the command that actually loads the sound from the
file into the sound buffer -- see the "SoundBuffer.Load" topic in the
E-Basic Help. If E-Prime cannot find the file, the the program would
quit at the SoundBuffer.Load command, so that much makes sense.

Does your program always quit at the same sound files, or different
files at different runs? What are the names of those files, and what
are the names of the files that do work? What happens if you modify the
List to exclude the files that do not work? Of course, make sure that
you always run your files in Sequential order for these tests!

Dear Serena,

in my personal experience this happens when i fill a List column with file names (without file extension) and accidentaly (copy and paste issue) i leave a space at the end of a file name. You do not see the space in Eprime List object but it's there, so a file "file.wav" isn't found because the composed name is "file .wav".
