In Drupal 8, social network integration and functionality is being completely rewritten and harmonised. Drupal 8 developers need to know about this.

How can we spread the news more widely and effectively?

Any ideas greatly received.

One possible route is a W3C Community group.  That would enable specifications to be written and put in a format that could be published through the w3c.  W3C Communities are free to create, but require 6 people to support its creation.

I'm interested in this initiative, particularly how is drupal 8 going to tackle identity.

I guess I'm more wondering on existing communities which would benefit from knowing about the Drupal Social Initiative and API work which is currently taking place. Are there any existing communities that you know which could be notified?

Also, there is a time/energy/cost of this Drupal Social Initiative to consider.
