Connecting KIE Workbench with Github

I would like to integrate KIE-Workbench with my organization Github repository (https://gecgithub01.myOrganization.com/)

KIE workbench is running on docker. 

Objective: I would like to achieve KIE workbench SCM features (like checkin/checkout) by having all the rules repository checked in within my organization GitHub repository.

This is quite a complicated topic, however I must first advise you
that Business Central is not maintained anymore, so you might want to
take a look what next generation looks like in https://kie.apache.org/

Understood. I really don't want to get into over-engineering something. 

Any advice/ direct reference for an alternative to KIE-workbench (or Business Central)?

What type of assets are you using? I suggest the VS Code extensions if
only DMN, DRL (plain text), and BPMN.

I am planning to use very simple asset. DRL (Decision Table in XLS) and BPMN (In future.) I want my 'end users' to be able to modify business rules at run time with no (or minimum) technical background.

Seems that you are in the beginning of your adoption journey, please
take a look at https://kie.apache.org/ - this is the version that is
actively maintained. Previous versions are not.
