Does anyone know a protocol for extracting cell-free DNA  from human urine?  If possible I would like to try to detect apoptosis bands by running the extracted DNA on a gel. I am not sure this is possible in our lab,though.

I read a while ago something about using magnetic(?) beads to
concentrate the DNA and use PCR to amplify DNA. I think the key
finding was that they could go directly to PCR without removing the
beads. I read it over a year ago so I'm not even sure I'm remembering
this correctly.
