Hi all

Our word du jour is TRICOUNI. It's now time to vote for two of your choosing from the dozen definitions listed below. The deadline is 38 hours from now, or earlier if everyone who supplied a def has voted.

1.       The performance of crossing a trapeze by unicycle.

2.       In Romania, an irregular soldier or resistance fighter.

3.       A collapsible three-legged seat carried as a walking stick.

4.       A narrow metal ferrule used to reinforce the end of a tool handle.

5.       A nail or iron fastened to the sole of a boot for mountain climbing.

6.       A fearsome three-horned creature described in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

7.       A small tortricid moth whose larvae commonly bore into apples and pears.

8.       A council of advisors, usually three in number, to a sultan in the Ottoman empire.

9.       A Venetian coin worth 3 denari, used from the 10c until the introduction of the lira in 1472.

10.   A plump, grey-brown bird of the order Galliformes, native to North Africa; also known as the Barbary Partridge.

11.   A triangular-shaped metal vortex generator fixed to the upper surface of an aircraft’s wing to encourage the boundary layer to remain attached at high angles of attack.

12.   Tetrahedron devices with sharp points on all corners which are therefore free standing and which can be used by armed forces to stop road traffic by destroying tyres; in the Normandy Invasion of WW2 they were also called "Belgian Gates" when they were large enough to interfere with tanks.

The deadline is around 38 hours from now, noon Monday 20 July (NZT), or

I'll vote for 3 (because it's number 3 and about 3s) and 10 (just because).

I could believe all or none of them! I'll reward the authors of #7 and #10.

A 5 and 9 for me

~Bending under the weight of His mercies~

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and only Son, Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14

This word is a weird shape. It looks made-up, like a trademark, so that would be #3. If it is not made-up, then just maybe it's Romanian, #2.
