First off, you guys are doing a great job with this app, and I'm surprised to see how awesome and popular it is with such a small team behind it.

I thought it should be brought to your attention, however, that when a group chat is first started in the game, the messages don't read as "unread", so I never know I'm in one until it finally fixes itself. It usually fixes itself when I respond to it, but sometimes before, sometimes after. Occasionally though, there will be vital, time-sensitive information that I miss because I, like I'm sure most people, only check the messages that are unread.

It's to the point where I don't even start them unless it's really important, because I'm sure that no one will read them. If at the start of a match, people will notice more often, because they can tell they've been put into a chat, and they haven't started any yet, but even then it's rare for people to see them.

By the way, once each chat starts working, it stays good for the rest of the match.

Thanks, guys, for anything you can do!

Are you saying that the first message of every thread doesn't cause a notification to be sent to recipients? I've never noticed this issue before (although I have played with people who ignore my message to them! ;-)

Is it only for group chats (as in the title), or do you notice it for all conversations? As far as I know all chats are handled by the same code, but maybe this is intermittent, or perhaps more likely, messages don't have guaranteed delivery.

It's not the push notification. I always see those, that I've noticed. When you're looking at your started games, there is no red number that tells you how many unread messages you have. Furthermore, when you open that chat screen, it says "0 unread" even though there's definitely unread messages in there.

And yes, as far as I've noticed, it's only for group chats, but that includes the "Everyone" chat.

I tried to repro this earlier but failed.

Could you go to some (old) game we have in common, start a new group chat with me in it, and then post a link to the game so I can see it happen?

Yup, it's verified. I have a new channel with 0 unread messages...

Let's move this to diplicity-dev.

I'm not part of that forum. You'll need to share it if you want me in.

Just that the technical details may be uninteresting to the diplicity-talk channel.
