Hi everyone!!

I’m new to managing this server and currently facing an issue with a Dataverse v.6.0 instance—Payara 6 keeps crashing. I didn’t set up the system, and I don’t have the logs, but I do have root permissions.

I’m not sure why this is happening. How can I figure out what’s going wrong?

My server specs are as follows:

  • Processor: Xeon Silver 4108 CPU @ 1.80GHz
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Storage: 2TB
  • OS: Rocky Linux 9.4

Using htop, I see that memory is around 6/30GB, and the load average is: 0.9 / 0.05 / 0.01. From what I understand, this shouldn’t be an issue with my server.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I would first look in three places:

1) look in /var/log/messages to see if the out-of-memory killer is
zapping Payara, or if systemd is acting on it in some way
2) what is the Xmx value in
/usr/local/payara6/glassfish/domains/domain1/config/domain.xml? (on
that system, 16G would be a good amount)
3) look in /usr/local/payara6/glassfish/domains/domain1/logs/server.log
to see if Payara logs anything as it dies.

Thank you,
Don
