Wonderful resource.
1. will there be an option to save as a shapefile or kml?
2. will there be an option to extract the same for a box, instead of pre-defined admin boundaries?

Looks great.
Here is the source code - https://github.com/anvaka/city-roads
It runs a query on overpass. Hence
1. It should be possible download as KML
2. And can have bbox based area limitation
