Morning all

After many hours of testing this link, which included the following.

Pro99 side

1. Had nextlevel groove up to nextlevel results wasn't good, allthough signal was in the 50's and I tried many different frequencies.
2. 25dbi mimo Dish to nextlevel same results as test one also played around with freq

In both these test pulling data from pro99 towards nextlevel yielded good results but the other way around was real bad

Nextlevel side

1. Groove to pro99
2. Hn card to pro99
3. N-card

All of these gave the same bad result. Please note the Sq- nlvl which is working perfect was turned to pro99 tested and failed to give good results. The is actually a big building in the way and could be that the building is interfering with results.

This leads me to believe that for some reason pro99-nextlevel is not working and leaves us looking for another link into bothasig. I have spoken to Mark and he said we can test a link between nextlevel and cheaptrick to bring more needed bandwith into bothasig.

Myself and nextlevel turned his grid thay was pointing pro99 towards cheaptrick signal at the moment to the sector is -54. This means that bothasig has two open links doing nothing if the cheaptrick-nextlevel links works.

Abrie how do you and Andre feel about a long link to ruffy in seapoint he already has a dish waiting to connect and if it works he'll buy another dish to connect to Venus.

Then lastly lurker is sitting with a groove on the top of his pole thay could be pointed to Janssen for a test. Janssen has a awesomely good link to nextlevel.

Let me know how you guys feel about this and if we can make it happen.

Regards ogon

Re Janssen-Lurker, Sensei and I have discussed it.  He's keen. I'm keen. So far the only reason it hasn't happened yet is timing and being less-than-ideally organised. xD

A Sqr-Nlvl link sounds good to me. Given your report, the bad link is probably terrain-related and not the equipment, so there isn't really much of a choice in terms of what's needed to sort it out.

I am available this Saturday from 11 to turn the groove.

If we are doing work on the pole, I also want to move 1 meter to the left to the other wall. This will allow us to loosen the brackets and lower the pole all the way to the ground, keeping it vertical,  so that we can reach the radios on the top by standing on the roof. As opposed to currently removing the pole from the brackets completely and lowering the pole horizontal each time we work on it.

Last time there was an issue, we swopped the SXT on the Lurker-pro99 link to another one that someone dropped off.  Does anyone remember who that belongs to?  I don’t.  Can it be left on the pole, or was it just a loan.

I have another SXT which is a private non wug link that has died.  I would like to use my spare SXT (if it is working) to fix that link, but that depends on the owner of the current SXT serving the Lurker-pro99 link.

So

1)      Who owns the SXT on the lurker pole connecting to Pro99.  Can it stay there?

2)      Who is available to assist moving the pole and aligning the groove to Janssen.  I hope the cables are long enough………

Hi guys,

My 2 cents.....

Pro99-NextLevel is not working because of the monstrosity on the corner of Mydrecht Street which is probably obstructing LOS.

Lurker to Janssen, great idea, pity we can't make it dual pol - although probably doesn't need to be too fast if we have Cheaptrick Nextlevel.

Cheaptrick to NextLevel - another great idea - Mark, can we turn that dish at the bottom for now, and maybe use a mini pci in the sector basebox for this link.

Pro99 to Ruffy - will this help us, or will it put more stress on our link over moontop? I would rather turn that rowards the plattekloof link that you were testing for Cheaptrick?

Also, we still have a spare netbox and dish looking for a new destination, what about testing that link to plattekloof from Potman?

Also, one last thing, I don't think the Neptune-Cheaptrick link is running particularly well, I'm not sure If I have LOS to Neptune, but I see ShadowClaw gets over 60mbit to cheaptrick, so maybe Neptune could bounce through there and make our speed that way a little better?

Thanks
Bruce

Keith,

That SXT is test kit for the area, we have 2.  The other one is being tested by a potential Pro99 client.

The problem is that it is SXT 5 lite, which is really not suitable for your link to Pro99, (Signal is really bad)

If we need more kit, we could try collect some money, I’m sure there are enough guys willing to donate for that link.  Otherwise give me or Mark the dead sxt and we can try get it going again.

Mark/Anton are the old SXTs from your link still around

The “dead” Lurker-pro99 SXT is lying at home, the one I refered to earlier as spare.  I think mark did revive it.  I will look at it tonight, we can then swop it back in and take the test kit SXT off.

I am trying to convince the recipient of my private link to buy another SXT before Saturday.  It is only 300m away.

Hi again

When lurker-jansen, Nextlevel-cheaptrick is up and running the bothasig area will be overflowed with data. Seapoint has been a long struggling area for the wug, I'm only asking to test if you guys are not happy with the results then that is fine with me.

But if it works well then ruffy will be connecting to Venus as well and I really don't see more strain on the Neptune link as Venus is already getting most of its traffic from there. The links will help with redundancy as Venus is link into Sq too. Ruffy also has a panel ready to connect wannabe wuggers in seapoint.

On the lurker end of things would it be better to put a 260gsp in the for the outgoing links then atleast we can login into the 260gsp and reboot. The enclosure is a bit small for a 750 260gsp and then switch.

Ogon

I have a RB 750 UP that is not being used. 1 of the POE ports fried when I had water running inside one of the cables, but the other 3 POE ports are good.
I am not sure how many ports on the current RB750 are being used, if not all, we can look at swopping.

Is there any other difference between the 260gsp and 750UP other than port speed.

Lurker If I remember correctly that 750up was the reason your site rebooted every 30minutes the moment we took it out we never had that problem agian. I think internal more than port3 got damaged.

If it was my site this is how would do it. Currently inside the enclosure there is a switch and a rb750. I would take out the switch and replace it with the 260gsp.

My cable layout

260gsp

1. Wug 750
2. Pro99
3. Sector
4. Jannsen
5. Supaman

Wug 750

1 pvt Lan 750
2 non wug sxt
3
4
5

That is of if memory serves me right

This will allow poeple with login to 260gsp from Port 2 to port 5 to login and reboot the other frozen devices one by one. Maybe get the sector guys to contribute, this will benefit them most if they have spare change of course.

Routing if it was up to me I would then add all rbs to a /28 range and get rid of all the /30.
