Crystal Windows 10 Ubuntu bash BSOD during compile. Blue screen occurs, about every fifth compilation. Error: Kernel security check failure. Help please!

This is most definitely not a problem on Crystal's end. The high resource usage is probably just screwing with your drivers, and one of them bugs out and causes the BSOD.

I bought a new computer, but the problem persists. Especially when I write wrong code. Perhaps this is a problem with Windows 10 integration with Ubuntu bash. Write on the site that Ubuntu Bash behaves not stable when compiling source code. Thanks

Hi,

Please share with us the code (as minimal as possible) that's causing
the bug,
and the output of `crystal --version`.

If it's a reproducible compiler crash bug we'll want to fix it anyways.
However, a Bluescreen of Death of the host platform is out of scope for
Crystal.
We generally expect that the operating system works correctly. Do you
really
mean a BSOD, as in, your whole computer crashing, or just the compiler
crashing?

The Crystal version was the last. The code I tried to compile after the crash was deleted. At compile time BSOD happened. Reason: kernel security check failure. It's probably not Crystal's problem, it's Ubuntu Bash itself. Because when I compiled the sources of the Crystal language, BSOD also happened.

I was about to come here and ask if anybody else was experiencing that (I, bizarrely, get it on one box but not another, and even then only rarely).  I presume it's a bug in wsl/windows bash somewhere...anybody filed a bug report there?

I have filed https://github.com/Microsoft/WSL/issues/2831
But maybe it's a different thing. Wouldn't hurt to open an issue and send a debug info to the WSL team so they can take a look.

OK they link to https://github.com/Microsoft/WSL/issues/2697 which "feels" pretty similar, let's hope it gets fixed.  For my I'm stuck using a virtualbox linux VM :)
