Hi Robert, Mark, and Brandon,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm glad to hear that the proposed changes seem reasonable. Of course, please feel free to make any appropriate adjustments to the finer details, such as axis variable names.
If the changes are officially incorporated into the CMIP7 Data Request by CFMIP, I would like to wait until the cmip7-cmor-tables are updated accordingly.
Best regards,
Tsuyoshi

Subject: Re: Discussion on MODIS simulator axis definitions in cmip7-cmor-tables
Hi all,
Tsuyoshi, thanks for raising this issue. As Mark mentioned, the bin bounds for the MODIS histograms were updated in the past year in COSP in the Github issue he linked.
Per your Github issue, I think your proposed changes align with the updated version of COSP and should be used for CMIP7. I believe tau may have been used erroneously as a dimension for the LWP-re and IWP-re histograms due to some issues I faced when submitting the new variable request to CMIP last year, and should be corrected & renamed as you have suggested!
Happy to help / answer more questions if needed.
Cheers,
Brandon

Dear All,
I am currently working on CMORizing the output from COSPv2 as implemented in our climate model. However, for some of the MODIS simulator output variables, the axis definitions in the cmip7-cmor-tables do not appear to be consistent with those used by the COSP simulator. Therefore, I raised an issue in the cmip7-cmor-tables GitHub repository:
https://github.com/WCRP-CMIP/cmip7-cmor-tables/issues/149<
https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://urldefense.us/v3/__https:/*github.com/WCRP-CMIP/cmip7-cmor-tables/issues/149__;!!G2kpM7uM-TzIFchu!wWkuaU4mnnkjQmj7Nmo7QErMSneJIIJuOibahRH0PG_cKn7vPoz6MfZJQVe543hfi4sHclYy5Ijkt-KlevmWTg2GmA$__;Lw!!Mih3wA!GB4CggcqbyYXMJHHEjemQEEAYP9Ai_0gH1Klv9YxNICjsbB5AbFZ-7KCSYCMU3VktgC2MLgSn8mt_EPedXc$>
According to the repository maintainer, any proposed changes of this kind would need to be discussed with the CFMIP co-chairs. If supported, the co-chairs could then bring them forward through the CMIP7 Data Request process. The issue was then closed.
I realize that there are several CFMIP mailing lists that might be appropriate for this discussion, but I thought I would raise it here first. I would appreciate your thoughts on these proposed changes, as well as any advice on how best to proceed.
Best regards,
Tsuyoshi
