Wash Park Scoter questions?

Good morning,

I was at WashPark this morning about 8:30, and didn’t find the scoter.

Three questions:

1) When have folks seen the bird? Morning or afternoon or ???
2) Sex/plumage?
3) Is it more likely to hang out with the rafts of buffleheads, the mallards, or is it a loner?

Thanks for the information!

In case all didn’t see it

1) Seen in the am and pm.
2) Juvenile Female
3) NOT hanging with the baffles, but with some mallards, or a loner.

I’ll head back over there this afternoon!

I found it near the tennis courts yesterday hanging out with the mallards for the part.

Thanks, again, to everyone who responded to my query!

Several of us saw the bird this afternoon — about 1:30. It was between the “point” and the island. The best vantage point was from the tennis courts, since there’s so much of the shoreline (especially at the point) that is roped off. The lighting was pretty poor, but it was clear that it was the scoter — size, bill shape, behavior, etc.

Unlike what many have said, when we saw it, it was diving with a bunch of buffles.
