Season’s greetings to all! It has been a memorable year for Children in Need Network. We have been continuously working hard in the fight to improve the welfare of children in Zambia, and our achievements would not have been possible without the support of the members, our donors and supporters across the globe. Thank you!
Though 2019 proved to be a difficult year financially speaking, we learned that there are some things that can still be achieved with diminutive resources. This month, we concluded the three years project on Child Protection and Participation sponsored by NORAD through PLAN International. The project was implemented in Vubwi, Chipata, Katete, Chisamba, Kabwe, Kapiri Mposh, Chipiri and Mansa. Our role was basically to improve the response mechanism and referral system for child protection in these selected districts. Our achievements through this project include; Capacity building for CHIN members and other civil society organisations in Strategic Advocacy, Capacity building in Disability Inclusion for CHIN members/ other service providers and Creation of Child Protection Structures at community and district level. The most touching moments under this project were when we build ramps for the physically challenged in public places.
2019 opened a door for us to work at the regional and global level. CHIN took part in a number of global and African summits which will see new responsibilities in the coming years for the network. These and many more achievements and stories will be found in our latest 2019 Annual Report.
Though we have achieved this much, CHIN’s work to improve the welfare of children has just opened another chapter. As we move into the next decade, new technologies and ways for offenders to commit crimes will also develop. Children throughout the world will continue to be sexually exploited. In the new year, let us together continue our work to end the exploitation of children, we will raise our flags of advocacy high as we speak and build the voice of the voiceless!!!
NOTE: CHIN Secretariat will be officially closed for the festive season from 3rd December 2019 and opening on the 13th of January 2020.
