Google Drive file access can be tricky are various possibilities, but one comes to mind right away. When you say “syncing the path”, I think you might mean “setting working directory”. It could be that some of the files in the folder you are using as your working directory are actually owned by another person.
When you say “we have had success with this on others”, I am guessing that you mean that other applications are able to access the relevant files and edit them. In that case, it could be that the path is so long that CLAN is getting confused and also this can occur when your path name has spaces and non-ASCII characters. Take a look at the path and try to keep it as short and clear as possible and make sure that you are the owner of the folder and files.
