Handle .cha files on Python

Hi there, 

How do you work with CHAT files of python? I mean for extracting strings or to change the directly the format of the file? Do you have suggested packages for managing these .cha files? I tried some but with no good results

People using Python usually want to work with the XML versions of the files available from
https://childes.talkbank.org/data-xml/ (for CHILDES or similar URLs for the other databanks).
