Dear cBioPortal maintainers,

Thanks for providing datasets to the bioinformatics community, they
are extremely useful.
What is the license of your datasets on your website?

I looked for this information on your website but could not find it.
On other websites such as Figshare I can see that the license is
Creative Commons (for example,
https://figshare.com/articles/dataset/brain_tumor_dataset/1512427 ),
but I could not see this information on CBioPortal.

Please let me know, thanks

Hi Davide,

Unless otherwise noticed, the data are no restrictions for the use of the data, as long as you properly give attribution to the original studies. There are some studies that restrict the commercial use of the data, but that will be explicitly mentioned in the study information.

I hope this is helpful.
Niki.

Thanks Niki.

If I can give a suggestion, I think you guys should state that
information explicitly on the cBioPortal website.

See here the APPRIS dataset website, for example:
ù
"APPRIS is licensed under a Creative Commons
Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA
4.0)"
https://appris.bioinfo.cnio.es/#/downloads

Best

Thank you for the suggestion. We would have to look into the license of each data set, since we only re-distribute the data. We will discuss this internally.

Niki.
