I installed in-boom furling on Ondine (Bristol 39 #25) about 10 years ago and I love it. I have full length battens, I can reef to as small or as large as I want without moving the sail area aloft, it is easy to raise and lower.
I had a friend with a Schaefer brand of boom furling. That had a lot of turns to the furling spool because the spool is at the back of the boom. Not a great design. I would not have the Schaefer version. It was very picky about how to furl it (angle to the wind was critical). It required too much power as well.
Mine is a Profurl Mark II. It goes up and down easily, regardless of your point of sail. Unfortunately they don’t make it anymore. My only issue was when the integrated vang leaked oil. Getting parts was a problem. Not sure what I will do if it fails again.
I do not recall the cost of the unit, but you need to factor in a new main, or significant revisions to your current main.
Leisure Furl looks similar to the Profurl.
