Halyards

Hello everyone,

I want to replace my old Sta Set X halyards...any recommendations? O.E. were wire spliced halyards...anyone still using that setup ? Good/bad idea? Finally, is there a minimum thickness to use on our Bristol 40’s?

Never made it down your way--maybe next year?

I've been using 3/8" VPC and it's been great. My main halyard is 10 years old and is still chafe-free and a soft hand. I secure the shackle with a buntline hitch so that I can reverse the halyard to distribute wear.

Thanks Scott,

Yeah... I had high hopes of getting up to your neck of the woods this past summer but losing our depth sounder (finally repaired in Oxford Md) and having my 40 year old Dyer Dink crushed by a storm (also in Oxford) kinda curtailed our cruising plans. We had a nice 30 day cruise but there were some “issues.”

Going to try again next May and June.

Hope to see you and Sue then.
