bazel process does not go away

Hi,

I thought or at least I think it was supposed that 'shutdown' would kill the java process, but at least on my machine, that does not seem to be happening:

$ sudo netstat -tulpn | grep bazel

tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:5005            0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      15410/bazel(tfarina

$ ./output/bazel shutdown

.......

Same thing, it is still there:

$ sudo netstat -tulpn | grep bazel

tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:5005            0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      15410/bazel(tfarina

To really kill it I had to do:

$ sudo fuser -k 5005/tcp

5005/tcp:            15410

Then netstat shows nothing for:

$ sudo netstat -tulpn | grep bazel

Am I missing something? Is 'shutdown' behaving correctly?

Wait, did you run the status server? I believe it might be broken so it is possible the socket doesn't get unbind when killing it (generally you have a timeout).

What does ps aux | grep bazel gives you after the shutdown?

Hi,

Also make sure you run the shutdown from the same workspace
(directory) as you launched it.
You can get one Bazel server instance running per workspace.
