Hi, I am studying the capillary wave case.

I want to simulate various density ratio cases like rho1/rho2 = 100,200...

So I made a code calculating Prosperetti's theoretical solution.

Although my solution is nearly same when density ratio is one, it is different of prosperetti-density.h (density ratio=10) or prosperetti-air-water.h (density ratio=1000)

Is there anyone who has the code calculating Prosperetti's theoretical solution or a file when density ratio is arbitrary ?

Thank you

Dear Basilisk users,
Dear Ho

"Denner, Fabian" <f.den...@imperial.ac.uk> has a  code calculating Prosperetti's theoretical solution. You can write to him and tell him I gave you his email.

  Best regards

Stéphane Zaleski

Dear Basilisk community,

I have a question regarding the capillary wave analytical solution.

I understand that the closed-form analytical solution of Prosperetti is limited to equal kinematic viscosities. I was wondering how the analytical solution for the Gravity Wave test case in Basilisk, and for cases 9.2.1: Fluids of different densities and 9.2.2: Air-Water capillary wave in the Gerris Capillary Wave tests were calculated? I know that in Prosperetti's paper, a general equation in  the Laplace domain is provided for the case of unequal kinematic viscosity of the two fluids:

prosperetti eq22.jpg

Was a numerical inversion of the Laplace-transformed equations (specifically Equation 22 in the paper) used to generate the pre-computed analytical data for the unequal kinematic viscosity test cases in Basilisk and Gerris?

Regards,
Seyed

Dear Seyed

We wrote some papers with Fabian Denner on this topic, you may find some useful information there.

Hope it helps

Dear Seyed,

You can also look at some papers where we provided scripts in supplementary material to generate the numerical Laplace inverted solution of equation 22.

There are also some more analytical details in the following paper on how to invert the solution in the Laplace domain to the time domain. You can look for codes and scripts to reproduce in the supplementary material.

I hope it helps.

Best,
Palas
