Hello everyone,

i have once in a wihle an issue with bareos stopping a backup-job (without any warnings in any logfiles what so ever) at the point that it needs to address the tapedrive (HPE Storever MSL2024 directly connected via mini  SAS SFF-8088)  that is working without any errors writing on tapes so far. (besides this issue)

So after step:
  •    bareos-dir JobId 111: Encryption: TLS_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256 TLSv1.3
should come:
  • bareos-dir JobId 111: Using Device "tapedrive" to write.
in stead it's stopping after the "encryption step" without any warnings or errors.
Now as i said the tape is working fine so far and after i reboot the server (Ubuntu 22.04) it is working again but how do i prevent bareos from having  this issue or should i say how can I be noticed about it or even better prevent this issue?

So far we are very happy with the software as of how it's working and also to work with and we would like to keep using it!

So very much appriciated for your help in advance!

Hello Dick,

you can enable trace writing with the "setdebug" command.

see:
https://docs.bareos.org/TasksAndConcepts/BareosConsole.html#id41

If you enable tracing for both client and storage (and maybe also director), you should get trace
files that will tell you details about what is going on.
