How can I search APRS.fi to locate LoRa APRS iGates?

There is no search functionality for different igate software or
protocols, but if they have a distinct tocall allocated, or a prefix for
tocalls, you can create a filter based on the destination callsign,
perhaps with a wildcard to catch the prefix.

Hello,
Unfortunately, current filters are unable to locate LoRa stations.
This would be increasingly useful, however, as LoRa-APRS is developing rapidly and more APRS traffic uses LoRa support.

I can think of 3 filters that should be added:
1. Filter on the "black or red diamond with an L" symbol. This symbol does not currently exist in the filters.
2. Or better: add a filter for the "comment" field. Most LoRa trackers use this field to identify the type of packet.
3. best option: allow filtering on the entire APRS frame. e.g. "*lora*" on the entire frame.

Would it be possible to add these filtering capabilities? That would be great.

I think the best filters would be:
1. L overlay on diamond or star (or even L ovelay generally?)
2. Packet destination APL* as used by current Lora SW solutions (i.e. APLG01, APLT01, APLOX used currently for trackers and gateways)

Hi,

On aprs.fi you can currently create custom filters for packet destination
callsign (APL*). If the device/software is registered in the APRS tocalls
device index (https://github.com/aprsorg/aprs-deviceid#adding-new-devices)
you can also create a custom filter for the vendor or model - a "*lora*"
model filter might do something useful, but also match "colorature".

Have you tried those yet?

Sure, L overlay on diamond or star (I-gates or digipeaters) would be the best solution. (please note that those diamonds can be black or red). Unfortunately, I cannot find such symbols in the filter list.
Setting custom filters for packet destination is a step in the right direction. But it's not just APL*, but also some APS* and APR* (but it also returns a lot of devices that aren't LoRa). So it's not yet an optimal solution.

As a first step, would it be possible to add red and black diamonds and stars with "L" to the list of symbols that can be filtered? I think this already refers to the vast majority of I-Gates and digipeaters.
Cheers, 73, Julien

Using L overlay only will make you not see any tracker using symbols like car or pedestrian.
That's why I suggested 'L' overlays AND APL* destinations.

Here is a demo implementing such filtering:

thank you, very nice.
I think the filters can be fine-tuned

I would try:

black AND red L diamond + APL* + APSFLG + APRFGI + APSFTL + APRFGL + APRFGT + APRFGW + APZAVR
(APZAVR is unofficial)

APL* as filter works wonders and its really clean Captura de pantalla 2023-07-26 a la(s) 23.15.31.png
