Altitude alerter app?

Has anyone found or built an altitude alerter app that will work with Avare?  something that will work off of the GPS altitude, perhaps with a correction for local atmospheric pressure, and give a visual and/or audio alert for a preset altitude either set to an assigned or  MDA/DH.   I believe there is one for IOS but I don't see anything for Android.

I would be very careful with an app like that, GPS altitude is not the same as pressure altitude and can be very different.

Some (all?) TAWS class B systems use GPS to determine altitude but it is based on a database corrected to GPS altitudes.

I was doing an IPC today on a Berkut. It's tandem and I was hoping to be able to use Avare for this as sitting in the back the instrument panel is not visible. It did not work especially close to the minimums where altitude kept jumping plus and minus 200 feet on the GPS.

Hi Kona,

If you have an EFIS like say a DYNON then you could pull the serial data from that and have very accurate altitude information.
