There have been several queries regarding this particular version of this unit working with Avare. We do not have enough knowledge about this unit. If they support GDL90, or can provide their API code, we will be happy to support it.
Maybe they will make a few sales with little work on their side.
If you can forward my request to them and see what they say.
Thanks
Good timing on this question. I called L3 earlier today to ask a few questions about the NGT 9000 product, and that was one of the questions I asked. IIRC, I spoke with Jim. He said they use the GDL 90 capstone protocol. I mentioned to him that I heard there are variances on the implementation of this protocol, and he said their only difference is that they add their product name as an attribute. Does that help? I too am very interested to see if their product will work with Avare. He was not aware of Avare, and it sounds like their testing of products moves at a snail's pace. They are just planning to work on Avidyne testing next month.
There is another post on this forum regarding someone who got a different L3 product working with Avare. I would imagine they are using the same format across their product line, so I am hopeful. I don't want to rest on that assumption though.

Ok thanks. I got an email today from FAA that they are offering $500 rebate on ADSB out installs.
I did forward your response to my contact @ L-3 no response yet, would hope it will work as I like AVARE a lot.BTW I have a quote of $5500 installed for my NGT 9000
Android does not support ad hoc wifi. Ask tge tech if it is in infrastructure mode.

The WIFI network that your ADSB receiver is creating must be an infrastructure WIFI, not Adhoc WIFI.
Did you pursue this further? Is the NGT 9000 broadcasting an SSID?

He was refering to the WIFI page of the Avare External I/O Plugin, which is a separate download from Avare that opens up a number of connectivity options. On the WIFI page, you'll want to specify port 4000 and then the listen checkbox AFTER making a wifi connection to the Lynx.
Jeff
I just looked back further in the thread and realized you've already used the I/O Plugin. I guess the confusion is from expecting the literal term in quotes?
After I start the engine and flip the avionics master, I open WIFI on the tablet and wait for the Lynx to show up as a device to connect to.
Once I connect to that wifi server, I open the avare I/O module, select wifi from the pull down, and connect to port 4000.
At this point, I open Avare and I get traffic. I can go to preferences and select ADSB weather for that information, which I don't get until I've climbed a bit.
Do you know at which step you are having difficulty?
Jeff
With the latest versions of Avare, the preferences section implies that if I've selected ADSB weather but am not receiving ADSB data, I should still see data downloaded from the internet. I don't. It still remains an either/or option. Is this not the case for anyone else?
