Hi there!


This is not only possible but one of the most powerful parts of the app


You can do it manually with exports, sending the the .apkg and them importing if you like. That works.


But the cooler way (because everyone may benefit) is to create a free AnkiWeb account, and sync your collection there.

At that point you have a free, private, cloud backup of your full collection and learning state.


But you can also then share one of your decks on AnkiWeb's shared decks area, so anyone can see it. https://ankiweb.net/shared/decks/


Then your friend(s) would go there, find that shared deck and add it to their account and sync it down to their devices.


End result is one more good shared deck in the world, and everyone has their collections and learning state backed up

Hi i saw your app on the PlayStore and was wondering if there is a text to speech with the flashcards.  Such as i can view and hear at the same time?
this option would be great to help learning things.  Along with helpful to list to questions and answers.

Hlo, I am very glad to use this app. I am using from past 5 months and wondering everytime when I open it
Exploring it more and more Everyday is my hoby now. You and your team is doing great work for students, God bless you.
I also want to suggent a thing for the app. There should also be the option of 'archive deck' so we can mute deck for sometime

I'm not sure about a formal archive feature, but you might be able to achieve what you want by modifying the deck options. You could make a new deck group and turn new cards and reviews for that group to 0, and assign your deck that group. Then maybe change the name to end in "(muted)" and it should be quiet?

Actually I also like the idea to archive decks.
I'm having one deck that I don't use at the moment, so I set new cards and reviews to 0. But it's still in the deck list and that's a bit annoying. Therefore it would be nicer and cleaner if decks could just be archived. Still the cards of archived decks should be searchable via browser.

But since this archiving feature is not upstream, I guess it's a waste of time to open an issue?

Yeah...I don't like saying it's a waste of time to open an issue, in my heart I want to do everything, but yes - if it's not upstream it won't happen.


But! There is nothing stopping you from opening an upstream issue - I can see how this might be useful. And it doesn't seem that hard? (famous last words)

Hi sir i take an over view of ur app.thats nice well organized and little bit conceptual. The num of questions are less. So i can provide u a backup of physics,chemistry,biology,english and mathematics mcqs organized chapter wise in softcopy. I have more than 10thousand mcqs papers of all subjects mentioned above...email sent from mobile sorry for any typos

You may use any of the clients in the Anki system to create decks with the facts you mention, and you can publish them on AnkiWeb for anyone to use. There are even some people that sell decks that are of very high quality and just publish samples so people can see it is worth funding the creation and maintenance of the decks. All of that is fine, but you it's up to you - no one else other than the deck author is involved in creating decks

Interesting - it's possible that Chrome is not set up as your default WebView for apps on the phone, and whatever the WebView is has a proxy configured that's not correct or similar. You can enable developer settings on your phone (google it, if you haven't done it) then you can look to see what your default webview is. If it's not Chrome, then there may be differences?

Yeah, a few have gotten through and it's not something I like, so I looked into it last time one came through


It is a conflict of interest / goals I think. We want any member of the list to be able to post. And, we want anyone to be able to join the list. So what happens is people join the list, and they post.


We do moderate posts from non-members (which blocks most things), but the only way to block spam completely would be to moderate all messages. I don't believe that is a goal (and I don't think I could handle it personally - from a moderation perspective) so we are at a 1 spam a month or so level so we can maintain our tilt towards the ability of new users / new list members to get help


If anyone knows a better way to allow free discourse, and allow for new users to successfully get help, with no spam, I'd love to know.


In the meantime it is humanity in a nutshell - a couple bad actors every once in a while - but I'm heartened by the amount of help everyone offers to new people

I think our current approach (moderating only first-time posts) is a good trade-off.
Having to first post an on-topic message is too high a barrier for efficiency-conscious spammers, who probably make only a fraction of a cent for every thousand spam emails sent.
In the rare cases when a second-time poster starts to post spam, we can always manually ban them and remove their message from our web-accessible Google Groups archive.

Or if you just want to switch the front and back side of your cards:
Menu > manage note types > long tap on your note type > edit cards

There you can see the template of your cards. Just copy the contents from the "Front template" to the "Back template" and the other way around.

Hi, I am using anki droid and there is a problen with the cloze type card. There is no options to make select and "cloze" the text.

Provavelmente o aplicativo apresentou um erro e fechou inesperadamente.
Tente apertar o botão de voltar para cancelar o envio e retornar ao aplicativo.
Você pode também tentar reiniciar o seu dispositivo e/ou o aplicativo.

Se o problema persistir, reinstale o Ankidroid.
Se o problema começou após uma atualização, tente instalar uma versão anterior.

Se isso não for o bastante, não hesite em nos contatar.

Hi. Please I have a problem with the app. So I've been using it for a long time now, but lately I deleted it. Now I need it, when I reinstalled it, i found that all my decks are gone, and I really need them. Even when I log in with my account I still can't find anything. Please help because I need them so bad. Thank you.

Boa Noite. Eu amo o Anki, mas o do Pc é muito superior ao do android. Com possibilidade de usar os ADD. Por favor coloque esse recurso no anki mobile iria ajudar muito. A versão desktop deve ter algumas funcionalidades a mais do que a
versão mobile, pois é o original.
O Ankidroid é desenvolvido para acompanhar e incluir todas as
funcionalidades da versão desktop, mas algumas coisas não são tão
fáceis de implementar no celular, por exemplo o suporte a plugins e o
navegador (browser) de cartas mais completo.
Entretanto, as duas versões irão seguir a mesma rotina de estudo e
suportam as mesmas opções para customizá-lo.
Eu recomendo instalar ambas, revisando no celular e usando o PC para
coisas mais específicas, como editar cartas em massa.

Se isso não for suficiente para responder a sua pergunta, forneça mais
detalhes que eu tentarei te ajudar.

A 502 Gateway error is an error on the network path in between you and the final server.


It usually means there is nothing to do but wait and try later unfortunately :-) - I bet it is working now?


If it is still not working then the error might be very close to your mobile device (maybe in an office or similar) and you should see the local network administrator to investigate (or investigate via ping and traceroute etc if you are the network administrator) to see where the fault is in between you and sync.ankiweb.net (the host used for sync)

If you want to accelerate the learning process using more repetitions
than the default algorithm, cramming will do the work.

Hi there,

I am as ever grateful for the ankidroid app, it's brilliant! However I've noticed recently that notifications don't show when I have any due, even though all notifications are turned on within the app and in android settings.

I have a Moto g6 plus and run android 9. 

If anything can be done I'd be very grateful!

For arcane technical reasons, in the 2.8 series you must have the AnkiDroid widget placed on your launcher screen for notifications to work


Give that a shot and you should get reminders again

Love your app, but one issue: When you press back while in a subsection of the settings menu, it takes you back to the main menu instead of the settings menu.

Greetings!

I am an AnkiDroid user, and I've been using it for a while now. It's a great app, with all these functions and things to customize, but as a user, I also have some flaws I see and I want to recommend some suggestions to make your app better.

First, when I opened your app after I installed it, I had no idea how this thing works or how can I operate it. So I was thinking that you can add something like a little tutorial and a tour around the app. How to add a deck, add cards, how the cards work, and how to personalize it. Something like that. I think this will help people to easily move their way around and be familiar with it.

My second suggestion is to add more options on personalizing your cards. I am a person who wants her things color coded and I also do color coding in my notes and all of my stuff, basically. If you think you can add an option where we can change the colors of selected text, it would be greatly appreciated. While at it, I also think that you can add formatting and stuff on the text like 'bold', 'italic', and 'underline'. It's very helpful. Also, bullets are very useful when it comes to examples or descriptions, so I also highly suggest this option.

The statistics and 'share deck' option is very good. I am very impressed with this option. I often share my reviewers and study equipment to my classmates, so this is an option I use often. Statistics is also a feature I always use because I am a conscious person, and tracking my activity is a very vital thing for me to do and this feature in your app made it a lot easier for me.

 This might be a very long e-mail from a mere student complaining about your application, so I want to say sorry about that. But I do hope that you consider my suggestions because it might help other app users out there. Thank you very much!

Hello
I Have been using Anki since five years ago. It is realy great, but since I have swithed to my new device (a galaxy note 9), during the syncing process I have got problem.  Whenever I sync my database, Anki downloads all cards that contain media  but can not add media (in my case pictures) to it's local database and show the cards with a corrupted file icon. So it tries to download media containing cards again and again ( when I touch the sync button). What should I do? And how can I fix this problem?

I got a reply to my review on my question on how to use 'cloze' and I followed the steps on switching to a beta and trying it out, but I don't see any difference and there isn't a button to convert selected text into a cloze. I hope this is the mailing list that I should contact since it didn't work.

For cloze cards, you need a special note type, or Anki won't be able
to detect them.
It can be created on 'Manage note types' > Add > 'Add:cloze'

To create a cloze card you need to add '{{c1:' and '}}' to delimit
which text should be hidden.
The Anki manual has more details.

I tested it with the latest beta (2.9beta12) and the cloze deletion works.
When some text is selected and you click on the three dots on the top
right corner, an option called 'Cloze deletion' appears.
But I could not use it, as it disappear too fast, and when I was able
to click it, it added the cloze marks after the text, instead of
around it.
Because of that, I think you will need to add the marks manually.

Thank you so much! I realised that I needed to add 2 ':' so it can work ( {{c1::text}} ) instead of just one. It's okay, hopefully, later in the future, the button will appear. I'm a Year 11 student from NZ and want to get into Medical School, I've decided to start preparing extra early and this was one of the most talked-about apps. Hello, this is Lara. Using the Anki Droid a lot for studies, it would be great if the program had annotation features that supported  iPad's pen or spen from Samsung.

You need to rename the decks to "RootFolder::NameofDeck".
It can be done by doing a long click on a deck and selecting "Rename Deck"

For example, if you have the decks "Colors," "Animals," and "Body
Parts" you can rename them to "Vocabulary::Colors",
"Vocabulary::Animals," and "Vocabulary::Body Parts".

In the 2.8 series you must add the AnkiDroid widget to your home screen for notifications configured in the preferences to work. It is a little silly but it is a technical requirement


In the upcoming 2.9 release they should work whether you have the widget on your launcher or not

Eu dei uma olhada no arquivo que você enviou, e não sei por que ele foi gerado corrompido.
Acho que algumas cartas estavam com problema quando você exportou sua coleção.
Você usou o Ankidroid ou a versão Desktop para exportá-lo ?

Eu editei o arquivo e consegui importá-lo na versão Desktop, mas não testei no android.
Mas três arquivos de áudio foram perdidos, acredito que não foram salvos quando você exportou o baralho.
Eu enviei o arquivo modificado em outra mensagem, pois não sei se você quer disponibilizá-lo publicamente.

That is something we hear about from time to time but we still don't have a reliable way to reproduce the problem so we haven't been able to fix the real root cause


One thing that works for most people is to uninstall the app and reinstall it - that should not affect your card collection in /sdcard/AnkiDroid but it will reinitialize the app so that it can connect with the data on /sdcard/AnkiDroid again


In general remember to take regular backups somehow as well (either via the built-in free cloud sync to AnkiWeb, or by copying /sdcard/AnkiDroid off your mobile with a backup program or similar) just in case

Hi,

I'd like to use the advanced settings option to save media to another location on my phone. Any time i try to edit this setting, it reverts back to "/sdcard/AnkiDroid". Is it possible to save to my external sd card??? It seems that it only allows saving to any subfolder of the internal "sdcard"

Hi there - it's unexpected that you can't change the location in advanced settings - that should work?


In general we don't support saving media to other locations but many have had success and it's my expectation that it should continue to work (though continue to be unsupported since it causes a high support load)

After the latest update the "replay question" option isn't working correctly and I can't disable it. The audio replays even if I have that unchecked

Ho, do you use audio files in your cards or TTS playback?
Aufio files are played in the way you implemented them in your card template: go to the menu in the top right -> manage note types -> long press your note type -> edit cards. There try to find your audio files, e.g. {{audio}} and place them only on the front and/or on the back, depending on where you would like to play/replay them.

Olá. Boa noite. Primeiramente gostaria de parabenizá-los. Esse aplicativo é sensacional. Tem me ajudado imensamente!

Tenho uma sugestão! Seria interessante adicionar uma opção "informações" no Ankidroid ao selecionar determinado cartão, como ocorre na versão desktop.

Espero que minha sugestão contribua para o desenvolvimento de aplicativos.

Hello team. 

Before I checked TTS option the play bottoms voice wasn't show for me, after checked this option the play bottoms voice are appears. But my mind was changed and I checked TTS option for disappear those bottoms but they don't hide. Is it bug or what?

App sensacional! mas para ficar perfeito poderiam incorporar o anki editor no ankidroid, assim poderíamos customizar os flashcards (negrito, itálico e etc. ) sem precisar de outro aplicativo.

O app é desenvolvido por voluntários e por isso novas ferramentas
dependem mais do desenvolvedor.
Entretanto, essa funcionalidade já foi requisitada diversas vezes e há
algumas pessoas trabalhando nisso, e talvez apareça em uma das
próximas versões.

After recent update I cannot open images in anki. Although its working fine on iOS version but on android it's not. Plz fix it. Thank you..

Hi, thanks for this great app. I have run into a problem that when I try to add a new deck, the app crashes and closes. It happens when I click the get shared decks option.
