It is asinine that after 30 min the android-x86 VM goes to sleep and does not wake up no matter what. How can I disable sleep mode completely?

It's in android settings of that android-x86 I assume... but maybe the
devs will have an urgent meeting to discuss it now lol

Is it a full command?
It prints: /system/bin/sh: adb: not found

No, it's a command you'd run from a desktop/laptop connected to the running VM through ADB. If you want to do it from a terminal within the VM itself, then you can drop the "adb shell" part, but you need to execute that as root (use "su" or something equivalent).

Awesome! Thanks!
Do I have to run this command just once or every time I start the emulator?

If your emulator has permanent data storage, then you only need to run it once. If it uses some temporary storage, e.g. running in LIVE mode, then you need to run it every time.

I think android boot will reset those settings if it is set
defferently in settings/display/timeout and also any app can and will
reset those settings if it has those permissions in android

I don't understand what you mean.

It actually works as Michael wrote: set once, applies to all subsequent startups.

secure settings in android can be set in many ways (if permission is
given to that activity), ADB is in no way superior.. next time you run
an application with such a command it will simply reset it, thats why
i suggested changing it in android/settings.. maybe iOS is a better
choice for you

You do not seem to get it. It works as Michael wrote. I do not need anything else once it works.
